Etap Lighting: Brightening up the Product Information Vision With Pimcore
ETAP international is a lighting production company with headquarters in Malle (Belgium) and multiple divisions across Europe. They deliver high-end, energy-efficient ergonomic lighting solutions for professional environments like airports, libraries, production companies, and universities across the globe.
The industry of operation requires a high standard of data quality. Lighting engineers and architects depend on very specific and detailed information about how a particular product operates. This translates to a very complex and granular data model that requires input from several production applications and further enrichment from multiple divisions within the company. The challenge at ETAP was to replace an outdated rigid PIM/DAM system with Pimcore. The proposed PIM solution had to interface with industry-specific software applications like Siemens PLM and Lumcalc. Next to this, it had to consolidate marketing information and assets and offer this to the Drupal website for consumption. At last, the solution had to provide an answer to the generation of tenders in a Word format for sales purposes.
Integrations of Siemens PLM and Luminaire engineering software paved the foundation for a very detailed and complex data model. Next to this, we incorporated the business-driven attributes with the DAM to deliver a holistic view of the product information. On the outgoing channels, we extended the Pimcore API to facilitate product information towards the online catalogue built with Drupal. Next to this Pimcore is used to generate tender templates with product information in a Word format mainly for supporting the sales division.
Herwig Peeters, Digital Marketing Analyst at ETAP says: "Pimcore is a breeze to work with compared to our previous system. The interface has a much clearer structure, allows us to alter information easily, and provides us with actionable insights about our data-health. More importantly, we have decreased the time-to-market of product information since launching a product with Pimcore is as easy as 123."
As of today, ETAP enjoys an efficient product enrichment workflow, which has strongly improved the time-to-market of high-quality product information. Having their product information, and digital assets, managed in one solution enabled them to easily provide data access to consumers, and employees by offering one source of truth.
At last, the client was convinced about the future readiness of Pimcore and the advice and expertise provided by Studio Emma: “As an implementation partner, Studio Emma knew exactly how to fulfill our expectations within time and budget. During the project, we enjoyed the close line of communication and guidance which resulted in solid project delivery and the beginning of a long-term partnership. Above that, they know very well what they are talking about and do not sell hot air.”
