Pimcore Platform Version 2025.4 — Built for the Future

We’re pleased to announce Pimcore Platform Version 2025.4, our latest Long‑Term Support (LTS) release - a milestone that positions Pimcore for long-term stability, modern system architecture, and a streamlined path toward the next generation of our editing experience. 

Highlights at a Glance 

• Full support for Symfony 7, alongside Symfony 6.4 - enabling a smooth migration path or staying on Symfony 6 via the Symfony Freeze bundle 
• Extended 3‑year LTS support from release date - ideal for enterprise adoption and long-term planning 
  
• Experimental support for MCP Server, enabling AI agents / LLMs to read Pimcore data 
• Compatibility with Pimcore Studio enabling dual UI support (Classic Admin UI + Studio) for a transition phase
   

Full Symfony 7 Support 

With 2025.4, Pimcore offers first-class compatibility with Symfony 7, while continuing to support Symfony 6.4 for now. This ensures flexibility depending on your project’s needs. 

Using the pimcore/symfony-freeze metapackage lets you specify which major Symfony version your project targets. This flexibility helps you align with internal policies or compatibility constraints. 

Important: Support for all Symfony 6.x components will be removed in Platform Version 2026.1 - so migrating to Symfony 7 should be part of your long-term strategy. 

By adopting Symfony 7, you get access to the latest PHP ecosystem improvements, making Pimcore 2025.4 an ideal foundation for new, future‑oriented projects. 

Long-Term Support (LTS) - Stability and Confidence for Enterprises, now for 3 years 

Platform Version 2025.4 is officially designated as an LTS release, with support extended to three years from the release date. This provides organizations with: 

• Long-term critical bugfix and security support
• A stable baseline for multi-year projects 

MCP Server (Experimental) — Laying Groundwork for AI-Driven Integrations 

One of the forward-looking additions in 2025.4 is experimental support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. This enables external AI agents and large-language models (LLMs) to access Pimcore-managed data - providing a direct bridge between structured data and intelligent automation. 

With integrated support for Datahub Simple-Rest endpoints, the MCP Server can become a powerful enabler for: 

• AI-driven data insights and reporting
• Automation scenarios relying on real-time data retrieval
• Advanced personalization and intelligent content generation

This experimental feature signals Pimcore’s strategic commitment to AI-readiness and robust data interoperability. 

Pimcore Studio Support of Platform Version 

Pimcore Studio is not part of Platform Version 2025.4 and thus also not part of the LTS promise. However, Pimcore Studio is compatible with Platform Version 2025.4 and can be used alongside it. 

Platform Version 2025.4 bundles will receive ongoing functionality updates for Pimcore Studio compatibility until the release of Platform Version 2026.1. 

Therefore, Platform Version 2025.4 will support both the Admin Classic UI and Pimcore Studio in parallel. 

With the release of Platform Version 2026.1, Platform Version 2025.4: 

• will be fully compatible with Pimcore Studio
• will receive bugfix updates concerning Pimcore Studio compatibility for three more months
• will receive LTS updates for platform version functionality (not for Studio)
• won't receive any further functionality updates
  

Deprecation of Admin Classic UI 

Platform Version 2025.4 is the final release supporting Admin UI Classic. Starting with 2026.1, it will be removed entirely. These changes emphasize Pimcore’s clean transition to a modern, unified experience management environment.

To streamline Pimcore’s modular architecture and reflect the shift toward Studio-based management, 2025.4 marks the beginning of a broader deprecation of legacy bundles and UI components. Among those deprecated or marked for removal:

Pimcore Studio for Editors — Preview of the Future  

In the scheduled releases before Christmas 2025, Pimcore Studio will redefine data and content management for editors with an intuitive, performant, and AI-augmented interface. 

Key New Studio Capabilities: 

• Data Quality Management: Visualize and improve data quality directly within the UI
• Alternative Element Trees: Sort and manage data using custom logic and alternative views
• Copilot Integration: Run AI Copilot actions natively in the Studio UI
• Bookmark Lists: Access and share frequently used content
• Custom Reports: Generate configurable insights and analytics
• Portal Engine Integration: Tight coupling for streamlined portal development
• Personalized Documents: Create audience-specific content variants
• Web2Print Documents: Build print-ready documents within Studio
  

This marks a significant milestone for us, fully supporting editors' work in Pimcore Studio only. No need to switch back to Admin Classic UI anymore for the most common editor tasks anymore.
