Pimcore Platform Version 2025.2 – Smarter Data, Faster Experiences, Future-Ready

Written by Patrick Heigl | Jul 1, 2025 12:04:16 PM

Pimcore’s summer release is here, and Platform Version 2025.2 delivers precisely what modern data-driven organizations need: smoother daily work in the classic admin UI, powerful improvements, and the first big steps toward Symfony 7. Below you’ll find all the highlights of this Platform Version.

Laying the groundwork for Symfony 7

We have completed the bulk of non-breaking tasks required for Symfony 7 compatibility. More than 30 core Symfony components—from asset and event-dispatcher to serializer and workflow—can already be consumed in version 7 while Symfony 6 support remains intact. This staged approach guarantees immediate stability for production projects and prepares partners for a seamless migration to full Symfony 7 in our next major release (target: Q1 2026).

A final productivity boost for Admin UI Classic

Platform 2025.2 is the last release in which Pimcore will actively review and merge improvement pull requests that target the Admin UI Classic and its related bundles. We have therefore fast-tracked a wide range of community PRs into this version. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Re-order table rows with simple drag-and-drop—no more manual re-arranging.
  • Open related items with a double-click inside advanced many-to-many object relations for lightning-quick navigation.
  • Search inside the Class Editor and Classification Store to locate the right structure or attribute in seconds.
  • Drag-and-drop in document relations reduce clicks for content teams.

These upgrades will streamline work for thousands of editors while we prepare the future interface.

Datahub File Exporter now saves directly as assets

Export jobs can write results straight into your Pimcore Assets tree, automatically stored in the directory you configure. There is no extra scripting, and housekeeping stays effortless.

Flexible asset metadata

Select and multi-select fields in enterprise asset metadata can now pull their options from an option provider. You decide where the list comes from—an external system, a database table, or business logic—giving teams consistent tagging without manual upkeep.

Backend Power Tools that work as hard as you do

  • Create objects directly from the Alternative Tree—create where you work, without switching views.
  • Asynchronous tree rebuilds eliminate stack-overflow errors on very large trees, so maintenance never blocks the business.

Pimcore Studio – the next-generation experience

At the same time as the Platform Version 2025.2, we will also release the current development status of Pimcore Studio. In addition to numerous enhancements like Notifications, Predefined Properties, Users/Roles, Classification Store, Grid enhancements, the following two topics are particularly noteworthy:

What’s new

Why it matters

Rsbuild + Module Federation replace Webpack

Faster builds, smaller bundles, and the freedom to mix Studio UI and bundle versions for true composability.

Studio UI SDK on NPM

Install the SDK like any standard dependency. No extra packaging means quicker start-ups for extension developers.
