Implementation of a PIM/DAM Solution for Cataloguing and Updating the Website
IVAR is an Italian company that has been producing articles for heating and sanitary systems since 1985: valves for heating bodies, modules for direct metering, devices for heat distribution, pipes and fittings, substations for thermal power plants, distribution collectors, radiant panel systems, components for solar, geothermal and boiler systems. Everything MADE IN ITALY.
The Italian headquarters is also the heart of the IVAR Group, created with the aim of distributing products abroad and which today has 11 branches: Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, United States and Tunisia.
Business Needs
IVAR had the necessity to implement PIM and DAM (definition of the fields, families products, trees, links between products) and to manage their integration with the management present in the company. The information, in Excel files, and the assets also needed to be reconciled once they were important in the platform. Once information and assets were structured, two objectives were to be achieved: to speed up the production of printables and to update the website, translated into 5 languages for the 11 international branches of IVAR. In addition to this, the aim has also been achieved to have all the data perfectly aligned and updated in an automated way regardless of human intervention.
Pimcore Solution
The implementation of Pimcore has developed in several stages. The first, the most important, was the definition of the Data Model, the configuration of users and the customization of the interfaces with respect to the roles and permissions of users. Subsequently, the phase of integration with the ERP has been carried out for a massive population of the PIM and enrichment of the contents, therefore the connection between Data and Asset and the management of the connected documents. In the final phase, the exports have been set for the layout of the catalogues (production possible thanks to Adobe InDesign) and for the population of the website complete with translations in language.
Business Results
The end result is very satisfactory, the platform works at full capacity and manages all the product data that must result in output to the outside. Pimcore's platform shared also with other business functions that contribute to the loading of the contents has also considerably improved internal technical communication, making it simple and easy.
The new site, completely updated, has much-improved navigability and user experience as well as a more organic and easily searchable content organization. The production of the catalogues has seen a halving of the times of realization and a degree of precision in the update and modification of the data before unthinkable.
The project then has its natural evolution with the integration with other web applications used by the company, such as CRM (Salesforce) to which are sent the registered contacts from the site. As well as the connection with a prediction software to which all the information and assets are sent from Pimcore's platform, which is, therefore, the only source of product data for all outputs to the outside world.
