CompuGroup Medical AG
CompuGroup Medical AG (CGM) is a leading global e-health company. Its software products support complete medical and organizational operations for medical practices, pharmacies, laboratories, and hospitals.
Since 2020, apps have been available with a prescription. Even before the legal basis for this platform was in place, Basilicom quickly developed a central content hub based on Pimcore platform for digital health applications (DiGA) for CGM. CGM thus became an e-health pioneer.

With the new platform based on Pimcore, CGM is updating and expanding its existing range. The platform is aimed at doctors, patients, and companies. It provides comprehensive information about digital health applications (DiGA) and enables the digital prescription, administration, and processing of DiGA prescriptions. Doctors can therefore authorize prescription-only digital products like health apps, and their patients can both learn more about these digital products and directly redeem their prescriptions for legally-approved DiGA. The technology is also the basis for a broad white-label software-as-a-service offering, a healthcare platform for other major market players.
For this new e-health project, we developed a central data pool based on the Pimcore platform with a structured data model that contains all information and assets related to digital health solutions. In this content hub, data can be maintained and selected as well as imported automatically. Interfaces to all relevant CGM systems and a connection to the Weisse Liste (the healthcare sector’s central directory) enable seamless data exchange. Basilicom implemented the required user interfaces with an intelligent modern JavaScript web framework that allows the applications to be used with and without JavaScript. The consumer interfaces were developed with a mobile-first approach. A search function with dynamic filters based on Elasticsearch and a connection to the CGM system landscape completed the platform. Thus, the new system offers both a specific user application for CGM physician systems and an online catalog for patients.
In September 2020, CGM launched a new, modern platform that can be quickly and flexibly expanded in any direction as a basis for future white label health apps. The DiGA hub for the CGM APP VERORDNUNGSCENTER serves the CGM physician information systems CGM ALBIS, CGM TURBOMED, CGM M1 PRO, and CGM MEDISTAR, as well as the patient portal CLICKDOC. With the new platform, Basilicom and Pimcore successfully introduced modern software into the tech ecosystem, in an ideal time-to-market. As a result, in record time CGM became the first provider of digital health products for physician systems in Germany and launched its own online catalog for consumers.
