The timber industry remains largely analog in many areas – orders, cutting requests, and consultations are still often handled via phone, email, or in person. J. u. A. Frischeis recognized early on that this traditional approach no longer meets the rising expectations of modern B2B and B2C customers. The goal was to develop a central digital platform that would streamline internal workflows while making the company’s extensive portfolio of over 25,000 products easily accessible – clearly structured, always up to date, and user-friendly across all channels, target groups, and devices. The key challenge was to build a Digital Experience Platform (DXP) capable of addressing the complex needs of sales, marketing, and logistics – for more than 15,000 registered users, diverse customer segments, and international markets. This required a robust technological foundation, a flexible data structure, and a consistently user-centric approach.
“valantic Austria has been our reliable partner in digital development for many years. We particularly appreciate their deep understanding of our requirements and their great flexibility in developing customized solutions for different countries. Thanks to this close collaboration, we can implement digital innovations efficiently.”
Team Lead E-Commerce & Online Marketing, J. u. A. Frischeis
In collaboration with valantic Austria, J. u. A. Frischeis developed a comprehensive Digital Experience Platform (DXP) based on the Pimcore Enterprise Edition. At its core are a robust Product Information Management (PIM) system and a powerful Content Management System (CMS), seamlessly integrating product data, content, and commerce functionalities. The platform supports the entire customer journey – from product discovery and digital planning to ordering and delivery. Innovative tools like the WebCut cutting service, decking designer, and glulamconstruction timber configurator enable intuitive and targeted interaction for both B2B and B2C users.Serving as both the technological backbone and the digital “shop window” of the company, the DXP has been continuously expanded and refined through multiple relaunches and updates – always in close partnership with valantic Austria.
The new DXP is far more than just an online store for J. u. A. Frischeis: It has evolved into a central sales channel, covering the entire digital value chain. Already, 23 % of all orders are processed online – a significant milestone in a traditionally analogue industry. The platform brings together configurators, commerce functions and digital services into a seamless experience, enabling intuitive use across all channels. The result: noticeably higher customer satisfaction and loyalty.Internally, the platform’s integration with existing systems boosts efficiency, ensures transparent data flows, and optimizes processes such as parts list creation, planning, cutting, packaging, and delivery. More than 25,000 products are centrally managed, available in multiple languages and structured for delivery across over 15 markets. In short, the DXP’s introduction positions Frischeis as a digital pioneer in the timber industry.
