As an internationally active engineering company, ECKOLD manages a vast portfolio of technical documentation and marketing materials. To support efficient and compliant communication processes, a centralized and intelligent Media Asset Management system was required as the foundation for digitally driven content creation.
ECKOLD, a mechanical engineer from the Harz region, produces machines and tools that are used in automobile and aircraft construction, in ship and wagon construction, and even in the space industry.
Training documents, user reports, images, illustrations, and videos — over time, a substantial volume of digital assets had accumulated across the organization. The key challenge was to structure these assets systematically, centralize storage, and make them accessible to a broad group of users.Before the introduction of the MAM system, missing keywording and decentralized file storage made it difficult to locate relevant content. Sales and marketing teams frequently spent excessive time searching for materials or recreating existing assets. Given ECKOLD’s international presence and multilingual publications, transparency, governance, and global accessibility were essential requirements.
ECKOLD implemented a Pimcore-based Media Asset Management (MAM) system that serves as a centralized and structured platform for all media assets. Training materials, product documentation, images, videos, and illustrations are now managed within a unified data architecture, ensuring consistency and efficient retrieval.A core component of the solution is sophisticated role and rights management, guaranteeing compliance by strictly controlling access, editing, and publishing permissions. Through integration with ECKOLD’s Active Directory and the implementation of structured workflows, asset processing, approval, and visibility are centrally governed.Role-specific views enable targeted editing, while enhanced tagging and property-based asset displays significantly improve searchability and transparency across departments.
