As Gedy's catalogue grew and the need to feed every channel consistently increased, the company faced challenges typical of mature manufacturing businesses: product data distributed across different systems, digital assets not centralized, manual updates to technical documentation, risk of inconsistencies between products, images and published materials, and long lead times for producing technical data sheets and catalogues. The goal was clear: create centralized governance of product information and digital assets, eliminating manual activities and redundant processes.
Gedy has embarked on an important transformation journey in product information management through the implementation of a PIM platform. Before the system was introduced, technical data, images, marketing content, catalogues and price lists were distributed across different applications and repositories, with creation and updating methods that were not always consistent. This made it difficult to keep information aligned across the various business functions and increased the risk of using outdated or inconsistent data. The implementation of the PIM has enabled us to integrate all product information into a single environment, creating a centralised, reliable and shared source of data. The project went beyond the digitalisation of content: we redefined roles, responsibilities and the way information is shared between different business functions, introducing structured workflows for the creation, review and validation of information. These workflows are certified and integrated into our Quality Management System. Today, the PIM is an essential tool for ensuring traceability and control throughout the entire product development and management process, while supporting review and continuous improvement activities. Having technical data, images and marketing content available within a single system significantly reduces the time required to create and update catalogues, price lists, technical data sheets and sales materials, while also improving the reliability of the information published across the company’s various channels. The PIM will become a central point of reference across the organisation, fostering collaboration between the functions involved and transforming product information management into a structured, shared and efficiency-oriented process.

GMDE designed and built a structured, phased digital transformation. Starting with a deep analysis of all existing sources - ERP, CMS and file servers - to define governance rules and data quality criteria, GMDE then centralized all product information into a PIM on Pimcore, with a unified product hierarchy integrating directly with ERP and CMS. Images and documents were imported into a DAM and automatically linked to products via a defined naming convention. Operational workflows were implemented to manage approvals, product statuses and internal processes. A Web2Print module generates technical data sheets automatically from PIM data, keeping documentation always consistent and up to date. Finally, Smart InDesign connects Adobe InDesign to the Pimcore data hub, enabling full creative control over catalogue and price list layout while working with already-validated, up-to-date content.
Gedy now has a single source of truth: product data centralized in Pimcore, consistent and always up to date across ERP, CMS and every output channel. Images, videos and marketing materials are classified, searchable and distributable in a few clicks, no longer dependent on unstructured file servers. Internal processes are standardized with product statuses, clear responsibilities and approval histories, reducing email exchanges, manual errors and misalignment between teams. Technical data sheets are generated automatically, ensuring that every update to product information is immediately reflected in the documentation. Catalogue and price list production is faster and less error-prone, with teams maintaining full creative control while working on centrally validated content. The resulting architecture is scalable and ready for future integrations including B2C e-commerce, marketplaces and new digital channels.
