The agenda for the project was clearly outlined: In addition to the clean data management of all structured data and assets in Pimcore, the further focus was on data export to the most diverse channels. Not only the existing website had to be supplied, but also different databases. Highlights of the project are the automatic generation of technical datasheets (PDFlib) price lists and packaging (EasyCatalog) as well as an individual workflow management. As always, extensive analysis and conceptual work stood at the beginning of all work on this project.

The hub of all data and assets is Pimcore. Pimcore obtains the data to be managed from various sources such as the ERP and other third-party systems, including mail reports for updates. The processing of the data is supported via workflows. The presentation of the different statuses of the various steps is done via mail reporting. For the existing website, twocream implemented an export routine for data transfer, including custom reports via e-mail for the export process. Furthermore, various automatic publishing objects had to be realised. The data sheet generation is done just-in-time via PDF-lib. This implementation delivers up-to-date data at the moment of request and requires no further manual intervention. For the price list as well as the packaging, twocream used EasyCatalog. EasyCatalog generates Adobe InDesign documents that can either be processed manually or automatically generate PDF print files. For this, twocream connected EasyCatalog to Pimcore via an ODBC interface.

From the very beginning, twocream closely involved the customer in the conception phase. The result is a successful overall product with which not only data can be managed but also supplemented with further information. Workflows support the entire process and thus decisively minimize the error rate. The challenge of databased publishing was also implemented in the Pimcore standard in such a way that further processing for the subsequent systems is unproblematic.
