CDP

CDP stands for Customer Data Platform. It is a system that unifies customer data from every source (CRM, shop, app, email, support) into a single profile and makes it usable for marketing, sales, and personalization. CDPs are complementary to MDM and PIM: where MDM provides the master data foundation, CDP activates the behavior and preferences of individual customers in real time.

A CDP answers the question: who is this customer, what have they done, and what will they want next? It consolidates identities across devices and channels, combines profile data with behavioral data, and makes both available in real time for activation tools.

The distinction from CRM and MDM matters. CRM documents sales interactions, MDM manages master data as the binding truth, CDP focuses on marketing activation and personalization with real-time responsiveness. In complex architectures the three work together.
