CMS

CMS stands for Content Management System. It is the platform that lets marketing and editorial teams create, organize, and publish website content without needing a developer for every change. In Pimcore, the CMS is natively connected to PIM, DAM, and MDM, so content does not live in isolation but is built on structured product and media data.

A classic CMS manages text, images, and page structures. It provides editors, templates, workflow stages, and a permission system. For pure content websites that is enough. The moment product information, translations, or personalization come into play, an isolated CMS hits its limits.

The trend is toward composable or headless CMS. Content is no longer delivered only to a website but through APIs to any frontend: shop, app, voice interface, in-store display. The CMS becomes the content layer in a broader architecture.

Pimcore combines CMS, PIM, DAM, and MDM in one platform. Editorial content and product data share the same data layer, the same translation workflows, the same delivery APIs. That ends the classic problem of two parallel systems that never quite stay in sync.
