ETIM

ETIM was developed in the Netherlands in the mid-1990s for the electrical industry and has since expanded to other technical sectors. The standard addresses the same problem as eCl@ss: manufacturers and wholesalers need a common language to exchange product information without manual mapping.

ETIM is built bottom-up. Classes reflect real product groups (a circuit breaker, a mixing valve), attributes are defined as controlled value lists. Data is exchanged in the ETIM-BMEcat format, which extends BMEcat with ETIM-specific classification rules.

Pimcore PIM supports ETIM natively. The current ETIM class structure can be imported, products assigned to classes, attributes validated against ETIM value lists. On export, ETIM-compliant data packages for wholesale and online platforms are generated without manual mapping.
