ETIM (European Technical Information Model) is an international classification standard, primarily for technical products in electrical, plumbing, heating, climate, and construction. It defines classes, attributes, and value lists in unified language and is widely adopted in wholesale and trades. Pimcore PIM supports ETIM natively, from model import to attribute maintenance and export.
ETIM was developed in the Netherlands in the mid-1990s for the electrical industry and has since expanded to other technical sectors. The standard addresses the same problem as eCl@ss: manufacturers and wholesalers need a common language to exchange product information without manual mapping.
ETIM is built bottom-up. Classes reflect real product groups (a circuit breaker, a mixing valve), attributes are defined as controlled value lists. Data is exchanged in the ETIM-BMEcat format, which extends BMEcat with ETIM-specific classification rules.
Pimcore PIM supports ETIM natively. The current ETIM class structure can be imported, products assigned to classes, attributes validated against ETIM value lists. On export, ETIM-compliant data packages for wholesale and online platforms are generated without manual mapping.
