Single Source of Truth

Single Source of Truth (SSoT) is the principle that one data category has exactly one binding source from which every other system reads. In the product data context, SSoT means: product information is maintained in the PIM, and every channel (webshop, marketplace, print, app) consumes its data from there. Pimcore PIM is designed as the single source of truth for product data.

Without a single source of truth, every system has its own version of reality. The webshop shows one product description, the B2B portal another, the Amazon listing a third. When an attribute needs to be corrected, it happens in each system separately, or not at all.

An SSoT architecture flips the model. A central data source (PIM for products, MDM for master data, DAM for media) becomes the only authoritative location. Every channel reads from there, ideally through real-time APIs or event streams. A change to the master propagates automatically into every touchpoint.

Pimcore is built as a single source of truth from the ground up. PIM, DAM, and MDM share a common data layer and are managed centrally. Through APIs, Pimcore delivers structured data to every frontend, marketplace, and print provider, without duplicate maintenance and without consistency drift.
