Up-Selling is a sales technique in which a customer is offered a higher-value product than the one originally chosen. In e-commerce, this often happens data-driven, based on behavior and product relationships. Pimcore PIM models product relationships (upgrade, premium variant, complementary product) structurally so up-selling engines can deliver trustworthy recommendations.
Up-selling is distinct from cross-selling. Cross-selling proposes additional products (a memory card for the camera), up-selling proposes a higher-value product instead of the chosen one (the mid-range camera instead of the entry-level). Both raise cart value, but with different logic.
