Webhook

A webhook is an HTTP-based mechanism by which one system actively notifies other systems about events, instead of those systems having to poll. When a product is changed in the PIM, a webhook sends a message to webshop, marketplace, or ERP automatically. Pimcore offers configurable webhooks on every important event, from data changes to workflow transitions.

Polling-based integration (the target system asks regularly whether anything is new) is inefficient and delayed. Webhooks flip the model: the source system actively sends an HTTP message to a predefined endpoint as soon as a relevant event occurs. That saves bandwidth and delivers near real-time updates.

In product data architectures, webhooks are central. A price change in the PIM triggers updates in every dependent system. A new image in the DAM notifies the webshop. A workflow step in the translation process triggers an approval notification to the reviewer. Without webhooks, these reactions would be minutes to hours delayed.

Pimcore offers configurable webhooks on every important event: data changes, workflow transitions, asset uploads, import completions. Authentication, retry logic, and failure handling are built in. Through the Studio UI, webhooks can be configured without code; for more complex needs a full event system is available.
