Case Study: Furniture association centralizes complex product data management with PIM
As a high-growing marketing and purchasing association group, the GARANT Group supports more than 1 800 medium-sized specialist retailers in all areas of business management. The individual PIM solution centralizes product data from furniture, bedding, kitchen and the HVAC and sanitary segments.
Based on the Pimcore Enterprise Edition, the GARANT Group worked with NETFORMIC to develop a platform for data management that meets the complex requirements of the association group. It was of particular importance for GARANT to build the initial solution in an MVP approach in order to gather initial user experience as quickly as possible. In order to provide the 1 800 GARANT partners with a comprehensive tool for product research, the Pimcore Product Experience Portal is also used.

Complex product structures are a challenge for many companies
Up to now, the GARANT Group has maintained and updated product data at various locations within the company. A central platform for product data management should also cover the growing demand of the company and its partners for data for various web and e-commerce applications. As a wide positioned affiliated group with a very heterogeneous product range (e.g. kitchens, living room and bedroom furniture, home textiles, home accessories, sanitary products and home technology), the main task was to flexibly structure the imports. Here, complex attribute logics had to be mapped for the most diverse source files of the suppliers - a real challenge for the mapping to be created. In this context, a dynamic workflow for the creation of GARANT-specific products was also to be developed.
The most powerful platform for medium-sized businesses has received a new module
As part of the project, the custom-fit product data model for the GARANT Group was developed and implemented. The users of the solution can clearly and easily edit and standardize GARANT products on the basis of supplier data via a workflow and route them to various target systems. In addition, a digital product catalog for the GARANT Group was implemented with the Product Experience Portal. This serves as a modern, high-performance research tool for GARANT partners, in which the current product range can always be reviewed.
