K+S considers itself a customer-focused, independent supplier of mineral products for the Agriculture, Industry, Consumers, and Communities segments. For more than 11.000 employees of the K+S Group, a central and personalizable platform was created. It provides access to all of the company's information and applications across all locations. With Pimcore, almost 200 applications are accessible and can be managed centrally.

Consolidation and replacement of the existing intranet

At the start of the project, there was already an existing intranet that was used by the entire K+S group. The challenge was to create a modern solution while at the same time maintaining the high level of acceptance of the previous system among the employees. Another requirement was to make the work processes more efficient with the help of the portal. For the technical implementation, a flexible system was sought that would deliver the content with the highest possible performance.

Pimcore as a central element for project success

After the first requirements workshops the project team decided on an implementation using Pimcore. The user-friendly backend and an extensive system of roles and rights were the main reasons for this decision. Taking into account the individual needs of employees throughout the group, a variety of personalization functions were implemented, such as target group-specific events, news channels and applications. On the dashboard, widgets can be used to put information in a favored order. To find out if the users would actually like to use these functions, regular user tests were realized during development.
