Replaced legacy TYPO3 website for electronic hardware products company
mbs is providing life-cycle services for embedded product design and development. They are known for high integrity hardware (DO-254) and software engineering services and a range of COTS electronic hardware products.
Business Needs
The customer needed a completely new website to be able to better serve the needs of his target groups. A concept and design were created in the first project phase. The new website needed to appeal to international customers alike, to avoid having to create individual country websites. The new platform had to be flexible and future-proof. This meant in addition to CMS it should also feature PIM and DAM capabilities. Fast delivery of the content was an important focus of this project as well. A simple migration of the content from the outdated TYPO3 website into the new website was required. For editors and product managers, the focus was to have a user-friendly CMS for collaboration with each other.
Pimcore Solution
After analysing the customer requirements, asioso GmbH decided to use Pimcore, since all requirements could easily be covered with this consolidated, flexible software platform. To create personalize content for the company's target groups, Pimcore's built-in personalization and targeting features were introduced to the customer. In addition to the CMS, Pimcore's built-in DAM was introduced as well as the PIM for easy, web-based product management. This makes it possible for example that product data sheets can automatically be made available from the PIM in the download center of the website. In addition, Pimcore's newsletter features have been implemented and are being used for emails to B2B customers. Via a protected login area portal, customers can retrieve and manage personal data and information. In order to make the migration from TYPO3 to Pimcore as easy as possible, asioso created a migration concept, which matched the contents of the two systems correspondingly and automatically migrated the content.
Business Results
The new website, based on an up to date CMS, looks modern and features high usability. This makes a very good first and lasting impression on the customers. The new Pimcore CMS is also very easy to use, provides a well structured PIM for managing and updating the products and makes it easier for prospective customers to get in touch with mbs electronics.
