To achieve this, Contorion relies on extensive, informative product data for more than 200,000 products.
The goal of Contorion is to revolutionize the market for tools and industrial supplies via its e-commerce platform. To achieve this, Contorion relies on extensive, informative product data that enables B2B and B2C customers to quickly obtain a product’s complete details. Contorion was looking for a technical solution to consolidate data from multiple sources, different departments, and 500 suppliers, in order to improve their product descriptions’ quality and to simplify the company’s processes. Contorion chose to implement a Product Information Management System with Pimcore, which has enabled the start-up to continually improve product data as well as provide clients with a positive customer experience, thanks to a transparent comparison process.

Using Pimcore’s PIM, product information from different suppliers can be summarized into cogent article descriptions. This means the shop offers high-quality, consistent, complete and up-to-date information so customers can make better purchasing decisions. A user-friendly user interface makes it possible to quickly and efficiently define which supplier data is included in a product description, and which will be supplemented by other sources.
Data from the shop system, shop front-end, asset storage and ERP are consolidated in Pimcore’s PIM system, aggregated, and from there can be centrally managed. Extensive tracking ensures that the origin and quality of the data is traceable, and its quality can be further improved. With the implementation, a foundation was laid for further measures that make it possible for Contorion to become the digital retailer for tools and industrial supplies online.
