More data, more business
When it comes to product management, Stanley Black & Decker has to face many challenges : find data quickly and easily, avoid too many exchanges between teams (product, web, marketing, sales …) and reduce the « loss » of data across the network - and time spent along the way. Teams must also generate customer matrix and pre-built exports to industry standards (FabDis / ETIM) - all this requiring many manual transformations through Excel files. In addition, many internal systems (Hybris, CMS, Datalake) contain product data, leading to multiple data entry by all teams. Stanley Black & Decker then decided to deploy an internal PIM platform for better data management and syndication in France.
Can we build it? Yes we can!
Stanley Black & Decker challenged DATASOLUTION for a Pimcore implementation, as their key data repository for France. A complex product model was designed, able to handle both data imported from SAP & Hybris streams and required fields for normalized ETIM and FabDis formats. During workshops, additional objects like marketing campaigns and customer types were requested and added in Pimcore - thanks to its flexible data model. Relationships between objects were widely used to combine all data together. Thanks to Pimcore Classification Stores, attributes were all grouped according to the hybris category, while dedicated Classifications Sores handled special attributes required by industry standards. Process Manager tasks were created for easy launching by authorized users. A PDF template was designed for on-demand product datasheets. Finally, a complex data completion screen was designed for better control during publication workflow - and quality management.
A complete product management tool
After 6 months of work, and despite the lockdown, the Pimcore platform was released in October 2020 to key users. More than 53 700 technical attributes, among + 6 800 attribute groups, were initialized, and 15 different types of objects created. After a brief training and some migration tasks, Stanley Black & Decker's product, marketing and sales teams will have access to a database of 215 000 SKUs. The project team is now focused on further improvements - especially synchronization with corporate DAM , still to avoid multiple entries when it comes to data management.
