Over the last four years, Caleffi has embarked on a strategic transformation of its product information management through the implementation of the PIM project, which I have personally overseen since its inception.Product data was published directly on the website, documents were archived in the PLM, and images were distributed between Drive and shared servers. The publication of a new article depended on informal exchanges between colleagues, with inevitable inefficiencies and risks of misalignment.We started from scratch. Building the database – now consisting of over 151,000 data objects, 31,900 media assets, and more than 1,100 structured attributes – was challenging but crucial. We didn't just centralise information: we redefined roles, responsibilities, and flows between entities, transforming the data produced into a governed and shared corporate asset.The results are concrete: a significant reduction in duplication, an improvement in time to market of around 30%, and greater control over the entire content lifecycle. All branches have been integrated into the platform, ensuring uniformity of translation and consistency in publication on the website and in catalogues.A key step was the integration with Adobe InDesign, which made it possible to automatically create catalogues from structured PIM data. This reduced manual tasks, layout times, and the risk of errors, ensuring total alignment between digital content and printed materials.Today, the PIM is a cross-functional reference point for the organisation and represents a true cultural restructuring in product information management. The next step will be the activation of the Experience Portal to extend access to selected, reliable data designed to improve the overall experience for external customers and stakeholders.
