Case Study: FIM Umbrellas - Impression #1

Case Study: PIM and DAM to get it all under control

Fim Umbrellas is an Italian brand that combines functionality and design and considers it essential to keep its identity intact by developing service and image.

Two key components of the project developed: the PIM Product Information Management and the DAM Digital Asset Management. The PIM is used as a collector of FIM products organized hierarchically and constantly updated with the company ERP. The DAM supports the company in managing all workflows involving technical product sheets, CAD design digital assets, and the ability to easily share both with users inside and outside the company.

Managing technical draws and pictures for the leader of the external design sector

The company's initial need, due to a high number of assets, was to bring together and link product master records and technical images in a single system with the goal of centralizing them for easy distribution to the outside world. The biggest challenge, on the other hand, was the high number of assets produced (suffice it to say that out of 20/30 umbrella families, the assets connected turned out to be about three hundred thousand) and their size in terms of space occupied.
Solution

PIM, DAM, CDP to provide the right information

Thanks to Pimcore PIM, it was possible to retrieve and import product information from external sources such as CSV and website databases and keep it constantly updated with the company ERP. In DAM, on the other hand, a layered development was done, where assets are divided by families and enriched with all product assets, from fabrics to product renderings. By controlling the information, it was possible to create a QRCode per product that could take the customer to the correct product page. Associated with the CDP Customer Data Platform, it can thus give information to FIM Umbrellas regarding the customer's path to purchase. Content translation management completes the project. Operating in more than 40 countries, FIM Umbrellas can easily provide the customer with content in the language of their country of residence.

Results

Improved sharing and costumer experience

A performant and controlled management of all FIM Umbrellas' digital assets has made it much easier to share assets with all those involved in product sales and design. Combined with product information, on the other hand, has made it possible to provide the end customer with a more accurate and timely path to purchase and after-sales support.
