Modere sells more than 20,000 SKU’s and operates 26 warehouses in 12 different countries across the world. Modere decided to partner with Hamari to implement a PIM and MDM solution using Pimcore which would enable them to replatform to BigCommerce. The PIM solution would become the source of truth for managing product data and would also be responsible for setting prices and calculating inventory availability globally.

How does a Modere transform the way they manage their product information while undertaking a major commerce replatforming project?

Modere was undertaking a major digital transformation with an e-commerce re-platforming project and changing the way they manage their product data. They also needed to ensure that this new system would be able to synchronise with their new BigCommerce site. From a product type perspective Pimcore needed to manage a number of different types of products including standard products, products with variants, product bundles as well as bundled variants. Modere required a complex pricing system which offered flexible configuration options with strong validations in place. Lastly, inventory availability would also need to be calculated for this re-platforming project to be successful. Modere required a robust master data management system with strong data governance capabilities for this commerce project to be a success.

Developing Pimcore PIM

We developed the PIM system to cater to Modere's diverse product taxonomy across their business globally. The system handled various product types, including standard products, products with variants, bundles, and bundled variants (including bundles containing other products or other bundles). Product data management included content previously not held in the Contentstack content management system, with a long-term plan to migrate more data from Contentstack to Pimcore. The PIM system facilitated seamless product lifecycle management, including creation, production, and archiving stages. During the creation phase, products are managed solely in Pimcore without syncing to BigCommerce or Contentstack. Once in production, the system syncs product data across BigCommerce, Contentstack, and inventory systems. For archiving, products were disabled across all the integrated platforms.
