A key challenge in this project was striking the right balance between innovation and stability. While a completely new system was being developed in the background—with modern features, improved usability, and enhanced accessibility—the ongoing operation of the existing app had to remain unaffected. The migration demanded a high level of coordination, both technically and organizationally. Various interfaces needed to be integrated, data consolidated, and the legal requirements for the Youth Taxi feature fully implemented. At the same time, it was essential to ensure that users experienced no disruptions. The challenge: to create a secure, scalable platform for over 150,000 users—accessible via app and seamlessly integrated with existing processes like the Youth Taxi.

With Pimcore, SIWA implemented a central content and data hub that serves as the technical backbone for the hybrid Ionic app. Young users log in securely via a modern authentication system and gain access to their digital card, personal taxi credit, and exclusive, individually assigned benefits. Content and offers can be easily managed via the Pimcore backend without the need for programming skills. At the same time, the platform provides a solid foundation for future extensions: new services or features can be integrated quickly and seamlessly – such as additional permissions, gamification elements, or regional promotions. This ensures the system remains scalable and future-proof.
The app was downloaded thousands of times shortly after launch and is now actively used by approximately 2,000 young people every day. Thanks to Pimcore as the backend foundation, content updates can be carried out quickly and easily, while data-driven services such as the Youth Taxi management system run reliably in the background. Personalized content, dynamic user benefits, and flexible integrations ensure that the platform continues to evolve with user needs. The 4youCard has established itself as a key tool for engaging and informing young people across Upper Austria — digitally, securely, and efficiently.
