Pimcore 5.5 adds visual workflows for data maintenance processes
New Features
Workflow Engine 2.0 is the completely refactored workflow feature supports data maintenance processes and life cycles across a wide domain of asset and master data management. Workflows are now fully standardized - based on the Symfony workflow component - and much easier to configure. It is now possible to have multiple workflows per element and there is also a graphical representation of the workflow and the place an element is currently in. Learn more
Filter Feature in the element tree for quickly filtering and finding documents, data objects, and assets. Learn more
Database delta updates when saving objects (for certain data-types, to be continued …) update only changed values are now in the database. This improves performance a lot! Learn more
Improvements
Documents are the CMS part of Pimcore and are the way to go for managing unstructured contents using pages, content snippets, and navigations. Improvements for documents in this release include
- Prefix & Suffix (e. g. Icons) for Links
- Video muted by default for autoplay in Chrome
- Make published state of versions independent of timestamps
- Areablock & Block: scroll automatically to newly inserted block
Assets are files that can be managed within the Pimcore system and which you can organize in folders. Improvements for assets in this release include
Data Objects are the PIM/MDM part of Pimcore and the way to go for managing structured data. Improvements for data objects in this release include
- REST web service support for video data type
- [ClassificationStore] allow using only individual keys from a group
- Default Styles for Text Panel to add nice looking hints for editors
Tools are provided in or for the Pimcore backend UI, can also be used via Pimcore PHP API. Improvements for tools in this release include
- [Quicksearch] show object class name in the search result
- [Redirects] Events for pre/post save and pre/post delete for better customization
- [Glossary] Option to limit maximum possible replacements for each term

Technical Updates
- Remove support for ImageMagick CLI Adapter
- Swiftmailer bundle has been updated to its latest version (PHP's native mail() function is now unsupported)
- Introduce Env Variable to control Kernel Debug Flag
