Travel Abroad Operator Reaches Higher Sales With New Website
Praktikawelten is one of the leading German tour operators for volunteers, high school, work & travel, language holidays and internships around the world. They have more than 300 programs in 25 different countries with their own houses in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Australia, Canada, USA & Europe. They give young travelers the opportunity to discover new cultures.
Praktikawelten needed a complete renovation of their existing website as it was struggling to perform and deliver results. It was not generating enough website traffic, and the visitors it did attract often did not return as the website was not fully responsive.
Firstly, it was not well organized and was confusing to the user. For users who were interested in making a booking, the system for this was not integrated into the main website and users were redirected. They needed a solution that would enable them to organize the website content and allow users to make bookings directly on the main site.
Additionally, their current website lacked SEO capabilities which they needed to better understand their users. Thus, a suitable solution would have to include SEO functionality.
Overall, users were highly dissatisfied with the website; as a result, Praktikawelten was losing business.
Through consultation from Pimcore partner agency DGTLS, Praktikawelten was advised to use Pimcore to enhance their website. Firstly, Pimcore allowed them to organize the website efficiently, making it easier for users to find relevant information. For users who are interested in making a booking, the process was made much easier than before with it being available directly on the main webpage.
A search tool was integrated called, ‘trip finder’ where users could easily find the most suitable trip for them. Also, the pricing information for each trip was connected directly through Pimcore and automatically integrated into the website.

The new website became very effective in increasing traffic. Because users are notified about the most topical news, events, and offers, they are more likely to make a booking as they now have the information they need to make an informed decision. Because the system was so easy to use, website administrators could save time that could be used to focus on more strategic initiatives.
As a result of the new website, there was increased traffic which ultimately lead to more bookings. This new-found success lead to increase brand awareness of Praktikawelten which ultimately lead to increased revenue and company growth.
