Case Study: Improved Data Management and Boosts Customer Satisfaction of a Renowned Consumer Goods Brand
Waterco Limited is an Australia-based company engaged in designing and manufacturing, filtration and sanitization for the swimming pool, spa, aquaculture, and water purification sectors.
The absence of a centralized product data management system resulted in disorganized and incomplete data records. This situation led to numerous errors and increased internal and external communication efforts to rectify them. To address this challenge effectively, it became evident that a central data management system for all products and global websites was necessary.

Challenge
Waterco faced difficulties managing its diverse product information across multiple websites. Each site maintained its marketing data, leading to complex management and delays in updating product information. This resulted in the presentation of outdated product data to customers and distributors, with new products taking an extended time to be listed across all platforms. Furthermore, the absence of integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Information Management (PIM) systems compounded these challenges.
Solution
Pimcore Solution
Implementing Pimcore, Waterco unified all regional websites under a single Pimcore instance with full access to the PIM database, encompassing all marketing data for the company’s products. The integration of the Foundation 5 framework, managed by Stimulus ‘Template Engine plugin/bundle’ utilizing Pimcore's Areablocks Technology, allowed editors to tailor content and layout without developer intervention. A custom-developed Epicor e-commerce connector plugin facilitated the synchronization of inventory and e-commerce data between Epicor ERP and Waterco’s B2B portal. Additionally, custom plugin development streamlined VEND order management by converting VEND POS inventory orders into Epicor orders. To further enhance client and dealer interactions, Waterco developed multiple web-based applications, integrating the B2B portal with Epicor ERP data and employing Web2Print technology for custom warranty certificates.

The implementation of Pimcore's PIM system has significantly enhanced Waterco's customer satisfaction. Products and services are now reliably updated and uniformly displayed across various multilingual websites. This has enabled the marketing team to concentrate solely on marketing strategies instead of website administration. The now active B2B portal has substantially lightened the sales team's workload. The system's agility in rapidly launching new regional websites and updating information, managed by either the marketing team or regional offices, underscores its overall efficiency.
