Case Study: WENKO Sales Tool based on Pimcore

WENKO is a leading provider of innovative product solutions for the bathroom, kitchen, laundry and home ranges, which are characterised by high consumer benefits and a fair price-performance ratio.

For internal sales support, twocream was commissioned to develop a cross-platform app solution. In addition to the primary desktop platform MS-Windows, the solution should also be able to run on tablets (iOS and Android) and optionally on desktop Mac. For this implementation, twocream used a proven combination of frameworks that allow centralised development for the desired target platforms.

Product presentations quickly, reliably and bindingly

WENKO products can be found worldwide in department stores, hypermarkets, furniture stores, DIY stores and online shops. WENKO has over 27,000 articles, and every year the product range is updated with over 300 product ideas. Depending on the sales channel, the WENKO key accounts present selected articles to their customers. The aim is to prepare the presentation quickly and carry it out safely, followed by a seamless transition to the preparation of offers for the selected products. Functional reliability and fail-safe operation, ease of use and efficiency when creating presentations were at the top of the performance and functional specifications.

Special requirements, long list

The tool should obtain and bundle its data such as article master data, customer data, images, texts as well as prices and price lists from various data sources such as SAP. WENKO operates internationally, so multilingualism was another basic requirement. However, the main focus of the requirements was on the realisation of the product presentation itself. A new presentation should be able to be set up quickly by the responsible key account, be absolutely stable and offline-capable in presentation mode, and allow editing in the form of selections and comments. It was also desired that after the presentation had been completed, the results could be processed into a customer-specific offer with minimal effort and be available as a PDF for dispatch.

Results

Tamers over more than 27,000 articles

With the new sales tool, WENKO key accounts can quickly and easily create product presentations for their customers. Items can be added individually or in bulk, or existing presentations can be duplicated and adapted. The new sales tool was implemented as a progressive web app for offline capability. The tool automatically pulls all basic data from SAP and other sources. In presentation mode, the sales tool can be viewed on two monitors: a large product and text display for the customer and a master view with additional information and control panels for the key account. After the presentation, the key account can generate the results of the presentation as an individual offer and make it available to the customer. If required, an Excel file with article data and images is rendered on the basis of template XLS files.
