Optimal management and provision of extensive product data
Zwiesel Glas produces a wide range of different drinking glasses. There are also cups, carafes and vases. The extensive product portfolio brings with it a wealth of product data and information. High time for a PIM system to facilitate the management and to simplify and optimize the usability of this data volume. The main tasks of the newly introduced PIM system were to ensure content consistency and high data quality through a single point of truth and to facilitate data maintenance and management through a user-friendly backend. An interface to the existing SAP was also required in order to enrich ERP article data. Last but not least, the PIM system was to be connected to Shopware for the relaunch of the online store.
Solution
Efficient PIM solution - from data modeling to Shopware connection
First, we created an omnichannel-capable data model in a joint workshop and transferred it to Pimcore. We then took care of importing ERP data and assets. Our process transfers the data stored in an Excel file into the multi-brand product range hierarchy in PIM on a daily basis. Assets can be added to PIM via a hotfolder or upload. The correct assignment is made automatically via name matching. To enable discount price calculations, discounts have been defined as objects that can be linked to brands, series or products. Our solution also includes the automated transfer of articles to any output channels via rule definitions. And for the connection to Shopware, we have created an interface that converts the product range hierarchy of the PIM into the flat data model of Shopware. We recently integrated the B2B brand assortment "United Tables" via another interface.

Future-proof digital transformation - error-free data, faster processes
Thanks to the PIM system, data is now stored in a central location. This enables uniform maintenance and ensures that redundant data is excluded and only the latest data is kept in the system. The central organization of data management results in a considerable reduction in the time required, reduces the error rate due to out-of-date or redundant data to practically zero and enables the rapid provision of sales-promoting product information in the online store. Thanks to the introduction of the PIM system based on Pimcore, Zwiesel Glas now has a future-proof digital database. Thanks to the flexibility and modular structure of Pimcore, the company is ideally equipped to further optimize the digital transformation of the shopping experience step by step. A complete media library is now also integrated on the website, giving all stakeholders access to product data.
