Case Study: Driving digital transformation forward step by step
BHS tabletop AG is the global market leader for professional porcelain. Since 1998, they have focused entirely on the B2B business with its three house brands Bauscher, Schönwald and Tafelstern.
We have accompanied BHS tabletop AG step by step on the path of their digitalization strategy: from the development of a Global Communication Center (GCC) to the relaunch of the website as a white label concept and the development of a comprehensive dealer portal.

Driving forward digital transformation to maintain market leadership
In order to strengthen their leading position, BHS wanted to drive forward the corporate group’s digital transformation. The vision: a Global Communication Center (GCC) as a central data hub through which all data from the three house brands can be entered, managed and maintained. At the same time, the GCC should function as an output platform that all stakeholders can access the desired product information from according to their needs. At the same time, the website should be relaunched as a multi-brand website including a powerful search function. And to further strengthen the service concept, the next step was to set up a powerful dealer portal.
Solution
Intelligent data management as the basis for digital transformation
As the basis of the BHS digitization strategy, we have developed a central data management system consisting of PIM, MDM and a data hub. All product data is managed centrally and in a media-neutral manner in PIM. The PIM system is supplied with relevant product information, e.g. order numbers and prices, from SAP via the data hub. The MDM organizes all digital image and video files. The master data can be exported to all channels, formats and media via interfaces. Thanks to the Pimcore CMS module, target group and topic-specific content can be provided. We combined the brand websites under a white label concept and provided them with a powerful search function. A gastro blog was also integrated into the platform. Further steps included the integration of the decor center, which customers can use to order individual decors, including time recording and task management.
Results
Powerful and future-proof basis for further digital development
The decision to implement the digital transformation in PHP with the Digital Experience Suite Pimcore has already paid off for BHS tabletop AG multiple times. As Pimcore is an open source solution, the customer lifetime cost is very low and there is no dependency on a fixed provider. In addition, the large developer community ensures an incredibly high speed of innovation and system security. Last but not least, the modular structure of Pimcore offers a future-proof basis for flexible extensions. This was impressively demonstrated by the website relaunch and the integration of the Decor-Center. The current structure of the retailer portal is also based on the foundation we laid. With the current solution, BHS is therefore optimally positioned to further expand its market leadership position.
