Introducing a new webshop and a new PIM solution

Doppler needed to reinvent its digital approach in two main areas. Many of the data-related issues at Doppler were still taken care of manually. This could lead to errors and inadequacies in data management and overall loss of quality. Because of this, their first objective was to introduce a reliable and flexible PIM solution. The company needed a unified system to manage and publish product data, not only for internal use but also for marketplaces like Amazon and their partners. The second objective was related to the unification of Doppler’s online webshops and their corporate website. These weren’t consistent in terms of visual branding and user experience (UX). Additionally, because these websites were technically separate from each other, it created extra work, constantly, for maintenance, hosting, and licenses. Because of this, they decided to change their eCommerce solution and look for a new one.

Rethinking UX and a switch to Pimcore and Magento

We began with a discovery phase where we performed a deep analysis of the current processing, storage, and product information management. We defined the main pain points of the project. These included: - A lack of a central article, master data, and media management. - The lack of the status of an article. - Accessories and article relationships are not stored in any system. - A high manual workload when creating listings, datasheets, resizing images, etc. In order to cover all of the requirements, we suggested Pimcore as an all-in-one solution. We recommended this system because of its flexibility and its ability to store and aggregate information and pass it along freely to Doppler’s stores and partners. On top of it, we have used the Pimcore Magento connector. We utilized Web2print to prepare offers in PDF and Elasticsearch for advanced object search and to quickly search data in the Pimcore panel. To integrate with ERP, we applied DataDefinitions.
Results

A centralized system for the internal team and a seamlessly running webshop

We managed to successfully implement a new PIM solution for Doppler. Up to this day, it provides reliable and undisturbed data flow between its employees and partners. Thanks to a complete overhaul of knirps.com and dopplerschirme.com, we delivered one shopping platform for two separate stores to operate successfully on. We also maintained a uniform visual style with improved shopping paths. As a result of Divante's collaboration with Doppler, we were able to create one cohesive and centralized system where we now have over 5,000 products available with 2,500 published. A big step forward is the much better usability for the internal team that is currently only used at headquarters by as many as seven different departments. Also, by leveraging Pimcore, the system is available in four different languages. Doppler now successfully ships its products to 18 EU countries, and sales of Knirps umbrellas alone have increased by 80% since the new store was launched.
