Challenge

The industry of operation requires a high standard of data quality. Lighting engineers and architects depend on very specific and detailed information about how a particular product operates. This translates to a very complex and granular data model that requires input from several production applications and further enrichment from multiple divisions within the company. The challenge at ETAP was to replace an outdated rigid PIM/DAM system with Pimcore. The proposed PIM solution had to interface with industry-specific software applications like Siemens PLM and Lumcalc. Next to this, it had to consolidate marketing information and assets and offer this to the Drupal website for consumption. At last, the solution had to provide an answer to the generation of tenders in a Word format for sales purposes.

Integrations of Siemens PLM and Luminaire engineering software paved the foundation for a very detailed and complex data model. Next to this, we incorporated the business-driven attributes with the DAM to deliver a holistic view of the product information. On the outgoing channels, we extended the Pimcore API to facilitate product information towards the online catalogue built with Drupal. Next to this Pimcore is used to generate tender templates with product information in a Word format mainly for supporting the sales division.Herwig Peeters, Digital Marketing Analyst at ETAP says: "Pimcore is a breeze to work with compared to our previous system.
