New technical basis and new design lead to successful online shop
The starting point of the project was a very well performing shop based on the Pimcore e-commerce framework. On the occasion of the redesign of the corporate language and the resulting necessary design adjustments in the online shop, including a Pimcore update, EXPRESSO and Blackbit asked themselves whether a new technical basis would generate greater added value with a similar investment.

High-performance Pimcore PIM meets new, flexible front end
Despite the redesign and new technical basis, the unique selling points and strengths of the previous shop were to be preserved. These included the convenient Pimcore product information management (PIM) in the latest version, helpful filter options, a detailed product configurator and a way to personalise products online during the ordering process. In addition, the shop system should enable configurable segmentation according to customer groups in the sense of differentiating between B2B and B2C. This included configurable shipping regulations and payment methods for different groups.

For the launch of the new website, Blackbit successfully implemented EXPRESSO's demands with the help of Pimcore and BigCommerce: The addressing of different customer segments, including associated pricing models and shipping costs regulation, is done without much effort thanks to the data provided by the reliable Pimcore PIM. In the same way, the new e-commerce platform BigCommerce contributes to an easy handling. Blackbit put the technology on a completely new basis while staying within budget and not only successfully maintains the strengths of the shop, but also enriches it with a segment-specific customer approach.
