Case Study: Marcolin, the Italian Eyewear Leader, Redesigned Their Website with Pimcore

Marcolin has been creating, manufacturing and distributing sunglasses and optical glasses for brands in the forefront for 60 years. The dual vocation, which combines the best Italian craftsmanship with a strong ability to intercept and make the changes in the world of fashion as its own is what has determined the success of the company.

We have been partners of Marcolin Group since 2012, since we created the corporate website for them. After months of analysis and implementations, the new site saw the light at the beginning of 2019.

Challenge

From the analysis of user personas to web design: how we redesigned the new face of the Marcolin brand online.

The project started from the analysis of the reference user personas, has preserved the institutional character that is due to a company with numerous investors and has welcomed a new need of the group: to reach and interface directly with final consumers to emphasize the message that the glasses of their favorite brands are produced by Marcolin Group. The project for the new site therefore followed a flow guided by the user experience and was born after a complex path that saw the production of wireframes, the consequent creation of graphic drafts and an elaborate html assembly phase.
Solution

The development and adoption of the Pimcore CMS / DXP.

From an infrastructural point of view, the site was built on Pimcore, an enterprise CMS able to fully meet the needs of the group: content management in 5 languages, centralized organization of an articulated product catalog (fully upgradeable autonomy from the digital managers of the group), the management of a complex area of Investor Relations, the possibility of granting different levels of access to the different departments of the group involved in the management of the site and, in general, a scalability that allows to easily accommodate the ever-changing needs.
Results

The advantages gained with Pimcore

The scalability of the system has allowed us to add two initially unforeseen functionalities to the race: an online generation system of certifications relating to the glasses produced, to allow buyers to obtain them in complete autonomy, and a system for managing digital press kit (one for each brand represented), fully integrated with the site management system.
