The basis for the PIM implementation in VOX was the replacement of two old systems. Their modifications caused more difficulties and technical debt kept growing. The implementation of the new system was also related to the business development process of the VOX company and entering new foreign markets. The main assumption was that PIMCORE would become the main product information lifecycle management center and the source of truth for product data. Moreover, the implementation goal was integration with the IT environment. Therefore, Pimcore was to be an integration center whose purpose was to provide data for the sales channel.
The first challenge faced by the development team was product data model recognition and the data migration from the old systems to the Pimcore Platform. Systems supporting VOX in the range of product information management processes constituted a complex environment integrated in many areas with the company's IT environment. For this reason, data migration was a challenge and had to be precisely planned in order to avoid data disruption and duplication of people's work in many places in parallel. Additionally, before transferring data from currently operating systems, LemonMind worked on the product model optimization and simplification to avoid product records and product attributes duplication. A significant challenge was to optimize the process of data exchange between systems, both between source channels and the Pimcore Platform, and between Pimcore and distribution channels.
Another significant stage was modeling product behaviors in the product information management process. The most important step was to disable synchronization with old PIM systems. Since then, Pimcore as a source of truth has become a center of product knowledge.

Pimcore, despite its great capabilities and available features, has been heavily customized for the needs of implementation in VOX. A very large number of product categories required the creation of an extensive and customized tree of marketing and technical categories. In order to optimize the time of accessing product data for many surrounding systems, we have made important changes in the data exchange layer.
