Europe-wide launch of online distribution for garden and electrical appliances
SENIX wants to conquer the European market for garden tools in the next years. The concept: German quality combined with a low price. Behind this brand is the Chinese YAT Group, a world leading manufacturer of garden and electrical appliances.
SENIX approached the Hamburg software development studio polargold with the desire to develop an efficient and flexibly expandable "Digital Experience Platform", through which channels such as Amazon and Website can be fed with data and different countries can be served individually. The data basis is formed by simple product data, which is temporarily stored in the ERP system "SAP Business One". This data was to be connected to the new system via an API. In addition, the data had to be enriched in such a way that a consistent text and image language is available across all channels.
To synchronise the SAP data in Pimcore, polargold built an interface through which data such as prices, SAP ID etc. were transferred independently. Through automatic synchronisation, Pimcore transfers new product data and changes on a daily basis. Administration and maintenance is now carried out via a central source where information on price, packaging size, product texts, etc. is incorporated. The product pages feed themselves independently from this source. The pages and - if desired - product data sheets as PDF are generated automatically and responsively according to the same scheme. Pimcore has been extended by a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, in which raw images are stored, structured and scaled for the respective applications.
The Pimcore-based digital infrastructure created a flexible and convenient rollout for six European countries. Visitors are assigned to a country via IP and see the country-specific website or country overview page. Each country can enter its own data and display products to meet country-specific customer requirements. In doing so, the person responsible accesses the centrally stored data. For a smooth workflow, the product data is exported as an Xliff file, translated and uploaded again in the local language as an Xliff file. Annoying copying processes are eliminated. The effort required for maintaining and creating product pages is reduced to a minimum. The setup also allows you to integrate additional country pages without much effort. The basis for a europe-wide SENIX distribution has been laid.
