Challenge

Challenge

The company had already been using a web store for many years. The previous solution included a Magento store system and a DAM (ResourceSpace). This setup was no longer up to date and did not offer sufficient and comfortable options for efficient product maintenance. Both systems were also only connected to a very limited extent by an interface, so that a lot of manual work was necessary to display products in the store. In the course of a change to a new ERP system, a solution was simultaneously sought to reduce the work steps in product maintenance, to manage the data in a PIM system more conveniently and comprehensively, and to create a connection to the DAM. In addition, the existing interface to eBay was to be restructured and the basis for connecting other online marketplaces (e.g. Amazon) was to be created. Furthermore, the task was to make the data available to NOCH's specialized trade partners.
Solution

Solution

A separation of PIM and store was decided. For this, the open source solutions Pimcore and Shopware were to be used, each of which was set up by specialized implementation partners. First, a Pimcore system (initially in version 10 alpha) was set up and an extensive migration and extensive restructuring of the product data from Magento 1 to Pimcore took place. Subsequently, the newly set up ERP 'Business Central' and the Shopware store were connected to Pimcore (sync of resources products, categories, media and some more) via individually implemented connectors. Another connector provides a connection to the DAM system ResourceSpace, which automatically integrates the assets of the products into Pimcore and updates them accordingly. The output of the product data to the output channels was realized via individually programmed interfaces.

Result

With the flexibility of Pimcore, many features and comfort functions could be realized that could not be implemented in the predecessor platform and offer a noticeable relief in product maintenance. These include the maintenance of upselling and cross-selling as well as the management of hazard labels and safety data sheets. With a multi-client and multi-target group system, different markets and customers can now be served. For this purpose, the possibility was created to play out information adapted to the respective market with individual images and texts in each case by simply creating a market variant of a product. The product assets are now assigned to the products via the DAM connector without much manual work. The customer was also provided with extensive user documentation of the PIM functions provided. The project does not include a large number of functions, but the functions included are very sophisticated and put the Pimcore project on a very solid footing.
